Stone Mountain
In a semester-long project, my graphic design class was divided into teams of three to tackle a mock Request for Proposal for Stone Mountain Park, Georgia. Our team's challenge was to reimagine the park's identity, positioning it as an inclusive and welcoming destination for all visitors. With a bold vision in mind, we proposed the theme “No Stone Unturned,” aiming to transform the park into a place where history, nature, and community converge, offering something memorable for everyone through an immersive and resonant experience.
Research & Insight Gathering:
To ensure our approach was rooted in real visitor needs, we conducted comprehensive primary and secondary research. After visiting the park and conducting a survey, we discovered that guests visit Stone Mountain for a variety of reasons—from exploring nature to engaging with history and attending community events. This insight became the foundation for our creative direction, guiding us to design a park experience that leaves no
interest unfulfilled.
Brand Development & Strategy:
Building on our research, we developed a cohesive brand identity that reflects the essence of Stone Mountain Park. We crafted a memorable logo, selected a color palette, and chose typography that embodies wonder, adventure, and inclusivity. Our brand strategy centered on creating a unified experience, from the park's educational signage to its wayfinding systems, all aligned under the "No Stone Unturned" theme.
Way Finding:
Reimagining the Park:
In an effort to completely reimagine the park, my team and I developed the concept of hollowing out the inside of the mountain to create an immersive experience. This would include distinct indoor and outdoor areas offering a wide variety of activities for all visitors. To bring our vision to life, we designed a range of creative branding assets, including concept renderings of the Immersive Education Center, detailed visualizations of themed nature trails, and a captivating 'Elevator Experience' concept. We also developed clear and engaging signage, along with a mobile app and informational materials, to guide and enhance the visitor experience, ensuring that Stone Mountain Park is a place where every stone is truly unturned.
